　「結」という漢字には、連結、束縛、鬱結、終了、凝結、裁きなど、さまざまな意味が含まれています。本作品では、女性が社会的な普遍的価値観によって定義され、束縛される必然性を象徴しています。社会、家庭、あるいは性別集団から生じる無数の規範や期待は、解くことのできない結び目のように、時代を超えて女性たちを縛り付け、その人生を強く拘束してきました。

    以前、天童寺の僧侶と話をした際、寺院にまつわる問題について教えてくれた。「最近の寺院は、露出の多い服装をした女性が参拝することを禁止しているが、これは非常におかしなことだ。僧侶自らが己の心をコントロールできていないのに、さもその原因が女性にあるかのように責任を押し付けているだけなのだ」と彼は語った。「酒が人を酔わせるのではなく、人が自ら酔うのである。包丁は料理を作るための道具であるが、人を傷つければ凶器になる。しかし、包丁そのものに善悪はない」と。この話は、社会で長く続いてきた問題をよく表している。1979年より、「計画生育政策（一人っ子政策）」のもと、女性に中絶や避妊具の使用が強制された。しかし現在、出生率低下が叫ばれ始めると「若い女性たちが子どもを産まないせいだ」と、女性が責任を負わされている。この間、わずか30年あまりである。歴史の多くは、男性を前提にして描かれてきた。そのため女性がさまざまな問題の原因とされることが多かったのだが、今でも、事の本質は変わっていないということなのである。

    ここでいう集団的価値観を形成しているのは、すべての性別を含む社会全体なのである。

  The Chinese character “結” (jié) embodies a wide range of meanings, including connection, bondage, entanglement, conclusion, coagulation, and even judgment. In this work, it symbolizes the inevitability of women being defined and constrained by the universal values imposed by collective societal norms. These countless rules and expectations, shaped by societal, familial, or gender-based ideologies, resemble impenetrable knots that bind and connect women across generations, firmly restricting their lives.

  When chatting with a monk friend from TIANTONG Temple, he mentioned an issue in modern temples: “It’s absurd that many temples now forbid women wearing revealing clothes from entering. They blame female devotees for their own inability to control their thoughts. It’s like saying alcohol makes people drunk, but really, it’s people who get themselves drunk. A knife can be used for cutting vegetables or killing people; it’s just a tool. You can’t say the knife itself is good or bad.”

  Indeed, history has been mostly written by men, and many problems are blamed on women, as if they were born to be the root of all issues. Meanwhile, male experiences are seen as universal truths. From the forced abortions and mandatory use of IUDs during the one-child policy, to today’s low birth rate being blamed on young women refusing to have children, only 30 years have passed, yet nothing has truly changed.

  The “collective” mentioned here includes people of all genders.

「結」字含有聯結、束縛、鬱結、終了、凝結、治罪等諸多含義。在這個作品裡則體現被集體的普世價值觀念所定義和束縛著的女性個體的必然性。無數像這樣來自社會家庭或性別集體的觀念下對女性的規訓準則，像一個個無從揭開的結，綑綁和聯結著每一個時代的女性，牢牢束縛著她們的一生。

        之前和天童寺的法師朋友聊天時，他提到如今寺院存在的問題：「現在的很多寺院禁止女性衣著暴露進入是非常荒誕的事情，他們自己起心動念管不住自己的心，還要怪到女性信眾身上。酒不醉人人自醉，你那把刀用來切菜它就是菜刀，用來殺人它就是人刀（兇器），但你不能說刀有好壞之分。」的確，歷史的書寫者幾乎都是男性，許許多多問題的原因都被歸咎到女性身上，彷彿她們生來便是問題所在，而男性的經驗卻被集體觀念認為是普世的。從計畫生育的強制女性墮胎和上節育環，到今天的低生育率歸咎於年輕女性不肯聽話生孩子的現狀，僅僅只過去了三十來年，且從未改變。

        而這裡所提到的集體是包含所有的性別。
