In April 2016, Liu Qiuran participated in a project to study the ancient Chinese sculptures in Shuilu Nunnery in Lantian County, Shanxi Province, home to one of the most well-preserved and complete statue groups of Ming Dynasty. They studied and researched there for two weeks beside the Zhongnan Mountains and Wangchuan in the ancient capital of Xi'an.
